Opus Interactive signs new anchor tenant for 2nd expansion in less than a year.

Hillsboro, Oregon – Opus Interactive, a leading provider of hybrid cloud hosting services, announces the growth of its footprint within STACK INFRASTRUCTURE’s Portland-area data center in Hillsboro, Oregon. The 960kW expansion marks Opus Interactive’s second addition of space in less than a year to satisfy growing customer demand. The most recent expansion is fully supported by a single tenant.

Rising demand for hybrid cloud in the region makes this the second expansion in less than a year for Opus Interactive in this facility. Having achieved 30% YoY growth since 2012, the Company’s footprint is currently 1.78 MW in the Hillsboro data center market.

Recognized on Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Companies List for the second year in a row, Opus’ current locations include Hillsboro, Portland, Dallas, and northern Virginia. The company’s site selection criteria for facilities include market demand, connectivity, and power costs. All sites are minimum Tier 3 rated and positioned to offer high security, grid redundancy, renewable energy, and close proximity to submarine cable connectivity – all of which are key to the company’s customers that largely come from technology, healthcare, finance and government.

Market analysis in a recent Datacenter Frontier report revealed commissioned data center space in Portland to be an estimated 57MW. The 2020 Portland Datacenter Market Overview forecasts an added 275mw of new data center capacity in coming years.

Drivers for growth of the Portland market include:

  1. Growing Technology Sector – Technology services sector expanded jobs by over 46% over the past 5 years
  2. Tax Incentives – Portland data center tax is 2nd lowest in the US with no sales tax
  3. Access to Cost-Effective Green Power
  4. Lower Seismic Threat
  5. Subsea Cable and Dark Fiber Access – High-capacity direct access to reach global markets through seven subsea telecommunications cables and a dark fiber network

“In the U.S., the Portland market ranks among the top six data center markets. We’ve seen demand for cloud-based solutions and connectivity grow in support of the pandemic response,” adds Shannon Hulbert, CEO of Opus Interactive. “Our team has spent over 24 years building a mix of hybrid cloud solutions for high performance, high compliance industries like technology and telco, healthcare, and government – all of which were deemed essential in the past few month. We couldn’t be more thankful for our data center partners and strong supply chain relationships. They have all been key to delivery of premier IaaS and hybrid solutions as we all move forward.”
