Setting up Dialup Networking connections in WinXP and Win 2000

Go to the Start button, go to Settings and click on Network Connections.

In the Network Connections window, click either on Create a new connection, or click on File and then New Connection.

In the wizard window, click Next, then select Connect to the Internet and click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.

Select Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next.

Enter a name for your internet connection, you can enter anything you want here.

Enter the appropriate dialup number as provided for your area and click Next. You can find a list of dialup numbers here.

If asked if you want this connection used by everyone or just for your login, that is your decision based on how your computer is used, but most of the time its fine to just hit Next, then enter your proper username and password.

Click Next, then you have the option to put a shortcut on your desktop. If you wish to have easy dialup access, put a check in the box, then click Finish.
To connect to the internet, double click on the new shortcut on your desktop, then open whatever program you wish to use.
