Setting up Dialup Networking connections in Win98 and WinME
If you have Win98, double click on My Computer, then double click on Dialup Networking. If you have WinME, click on the Start button, go to Settings, then click on Dialup Networking.

Double click on Make New Connection.
Enter a name for your connection and make sure your proper modem is selected.
Click Next.
Enter the appropriate dialup number as provided for your area and click Next. You can find a list of dialup numbers here.
Click Next, and then Finish.
Right click on the new dialup connection icon and click on Create Shortcut. You will get an error message, click Yes for that error.
Double click on your shortcut, this will open the connection window. You can set the connection to save your password, this will take effect after you establish a connection.
To configure special dialing settings, such as 10 digit dialing, or disabling call waiting, click on the Configure button.

To disable call waiting, put a check for Disable Call Waiting and select *70, in the drop down menu.
To configure 10 digit dialing, click on the Area Code Rules button.
In the Area Code Rules window, put a check for Always dial the area code and click OK.
Then click Apply in the Dialing Properties window, verify the number to be dialed shown near the bottom of the window, and then click OK.
